Ghana coach Otto Addo has warned against complacency ahead of the Black Stars’ clash with Uganda on Tuesday.
The Black Stars fell to Nigeria with a 2-1 defeat on Friday in Morocco and are set to seek redemption against Uganda to wrap up the March international break.
Ahead of the game, Otto Addo cautioned against underestimating the Cranes despite losing 4-0 to Comoros on Friday.
“Yea, we have Uganda on Tuesday and the boys I think they played good but if they think it will be an easy game, then they are wrong,” he warned.
“Uganda is very, very good. I watched them a little bit before now, I have to go deeper. They have really, really good players, we have to have a good plan if we want to win this game. I don’t see us as favorites; it will be an even game. We have to rest now, I have to think about how we play, and maybe we need some fresh legs,” he added shedding light on the possible approach to adopt.
“For me, the most important thing is to get options and to get solutions for the upcoming games so these friendly matches are very, very important for us to know how they play and how they can adapt and take it to the World Cup qualifiers in June.”

Ghana’s defeat to Nigeria marked the beginning of Otto Addo’s second stint with the Black Stars. Interestingly his first tenure began with a game against the same opponents at the Kumasi Baba Yara Stadium where Ghana held the Super Eagles to a goalless draw in the first leg of the 2022 World Cup qualification playoff before sailing through with a 1-1 draw in Nigeria.
Otto Addo is now tasked with elevating the Black Stars following a terrible showing at the recently concluded 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The friendly matches are expected to set the stage for upcoming competitive games in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers as well as the 2025 AFCON qualification.
