Veteran burger-highlife pioneer George Darko has passed on. News of his passing was rife on the morning of Wednesday, March 20.
He was known for his skills as a guitarist, vocalist, composer, and songwriter. He held the title of Tufuhene of Akropong, bearing the stool name Nana Apem Darko I.
George Darko achieved enormous success in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s and his songs continue to rank among the most classic and timeless highlife compositions in Ghanaian music history.
Some of his popular songs include; Mensei Da, Ako Te Brofo and Bire Bire all in the late 90s.
