Ghanaian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) operating in the fleet management sector can now make cross-border digital payments with a newly introduced fleet card, the Divisional Head of Zenith Bank (Ghana) Limited, Mr Kwame Adadey, has announced.
Speaking at the launch of the fleet card solution in collaboration with Visa, a global leader in digital payments, Mr Adadey, said the card would enable fleet managers to pay for goods, services, and vehicle maintenance seamlessly across African countries.
He likened the fleet card to a Visa card, explaining that its adoption would not only simplify payment processes but also enhance intra-African trade.
“The aim of introducing this fleet card solution is to digitalise fleet and fuel expenses, while providing greater visibility and accountability for businesses,” Mr Adadey pointed out.
Highlighting Ghana’s strategic role in regional trade, he noted: “Ghana is a port-based country, but many countries around us are landlocked. A lot of goods and services moving into the West African region use Ghana’s routes. Previously, fleet operators had to carry cash in different currencies, but now, with a single payment card, they can transact easily wherever they go.”
The fleet card launch forms part of Zenith Bank’s broader efforts to drive digital innovation and provide tailor-made solutions for corporate and enterprise customers in Ghana.
