The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect in connection with a daylight armed robbery at a jewellery shop in Adabraka, Accra, in which GH¢7.5 million was stolen.
The robbery, which occurred on November 2, 2024, involved cash proceeds from a gold transaction that were being conveyed to a bank when the attack took place.
According to a statement issued on the official Facebook page of the Ghana Police Service, the suspect, Salim Mohammed, also known as Fariwata, was arrested on November 20, 2025, at a hospital in Ashaiman, where he had gone to seek medical attention, following months of sustained intelligence-led operations.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect and his accomplices, armed with AK-47 assault rifles, intercepted the victim’s vehicle and fired several shots to disperse members of the public.
During the attack, the driver of the vehicle sustained injuries, after which the suspects escaped with the cash.
The suspect is currently in police custody assisting investigations, while police say efforts are underway to track down the remaining accomplices and recover the stolen money.
