A national candlelight vigil in honour of the late highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, affectionately known as Daddy Lumba, will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025. The solemn event, organized under the auspices of the Creative Arts Agency, will take place at Independence Square in Accra, starting at 6 p.m.
As part of the commemorative activities, the Fosu family will open a Book of Condolence at his private residence, located at House Number 12, Kinshasha Crescent, Accra (GA-332-9264). The book will be available for signing from Tuesday, July 29, 2025, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily.
In a statement issued on July 27, 2025, the family expressed heartfelt gratitude to well-wishers, friends, colleagues, fans, and the general public for the overwhelming love, prayers, and support following the passing of their beloved Daddy Lumba after a brief illness.
“In this time of deep grief, your kindness and solidarity have brought us great comfort,” the statement read.
The family further appealed for continued respect for their privacy as they mourn, while inviting the public to join them in celebrating the extraordinary life and enduring legacy of the music icon.
Details of the final funeral arrangements, the statement added, will be announced in due course.
