The NIBS University Doctoral Graduation Ceremony for 2025 came to a grand close on Sunday, June 30, after a week-long celebration that began on Monday, June 24. The event was held under the theme “Leaders of Thought, Architects of Growth”, highlighting the University’s vision of shaping impactful leaders and intellectuals for national and global development.
Addressing the gathering, the Alumni President of NIBS University, Dr. Lawyer Nyamekye, congratulated the graduating class and charged them to use their academic achievements for the betterment of society.
Today is the day that the Lord has made, and we will rejoice and be glad in it. This doctorate is not for you alone. It is for your families, friends, and communities. Indeed, you are change-makers. Your doctoral degrees will be meaningless if they are not used to assist humanity,” he said. He emphasised that the title “doctor” carries the responsibility of service and not just personal success.
Dr. Nyamekye also welcomed the graduates into the NIBS Alumni Association, which now has over 300 members across the world. He announced plans for the first-ever NIBS Alumni Association Doctoral Conference, scheduled for November 2025, which will focus on academic and developmental themes while fostering continued engagement among alumni.
“We want to see a vibrant, well-connected alumni association with members from all over Africa and beyond. As an alumni body, we interface between the University and our graduates, supporting them in publishing, celebrating their achievements, and even standing by them during moments of loss.”
He encouraged the new alumni to remain active members of the association and contribute to its continued growth.
The graduation ceremony attracted numerous guests, including family members, friends, faculty, and dignitaries, who gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of the 2025 Doctoral class. The event also reinforced the University’s commitment to academic excellence and societal transformation.
