The Dansoman Circuit Court has commenced hearings in a case involving two men accused of defrauding a local businesswoman of GH¢150,000 under false pretences in a fraudulent deal involving Nestlé products.
The accused persons are Yaw Blankson, 41, a porter and former sales agent for Fio Enterprise at Agbogbloshie, and Paa Kwesi, also known as Clement, a supervisor at the same company, who is currently on the run.
According to court documents, both accused persons face two counts – conspiracy to commit crime, namely defrauding by false pretence, and defrauding by false pretence.
The prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Portia Nuarko, alleges that the crime occurred in 2015 in Dansoman, within the Greater Accra Region.
The complainant, Madam Vivian Auwo, a provision shop operator at Dansoman, reported that the first accused, Blankson, approached her with claims of an impending shortage and price hike of Nestlé products.
He convinced her to part with a total of GH¢150,000, in two installments, for the supply of products such as Milo, Cerelac, and milk.
Blankson promised delivery within two weeks, but the goods never arrived.
Upon follow-up, Madam Auwo discovered that Fio Enterprise had not received any payment in her name.
All attempts to reach the accused failed until he was arrested from his hideout on May 2, 2025, with police assistance.
In his caution statement to investigators, Blankson admitted collecting the money but claimed he handed it over to his supervisor, the second accused, Paa Kwesi alias Clement.
He further admitted that the funds were never deposited into the company’s account.
However, he has failed to assist police in locating the second accused, who remains at large.
The case is being presided over by Her Honour Halimah El-Alawa Abdul-Baasit.
The first accused, Yaw Blankson, was absent in court during today’s hearing. The court has adjourned proceedings to July 7, 2025, for the accused person to appear.
Efforts by law enforcement are ongoing to apprehend the second accused.
