Fear and panic have gripped chiefs in the Adansi enclave following an alleged attack on the occupant of the Bonsra Afriyie Stool, Opagyakotwere Bonsra Afriyie II last week Thursday night at Hweremoase in the Adansi Asokwa District of Ashanti region.
Some youth engaged in mining in the area are said to have attacked the Adansihene on his way to Hweremoase.

The Adansihene was saved by the swift intervention of the police. Last Monday, the Adansi Traditional Council conveyed an emergency meeting at Fomena to take a decision on how to address the disturbance.
The Adansiman Akyeamehene, Nana Kusi Anowuo addressed the media after the Council meeting. According to him, a number of youth for some time now have been engaged in mining at Dampayaw site in Hweremoase. He said the site had already been given to a company called Sems Exploration by the government.
The Akyeamehene stated that Adansiman invited the youth engaged in mining at the site to a meeting regarding their operations and the meeting came up last Thursday morning, at the Bonsra Afriyie Palace at Fomena.
He said it was agreed at the meeting that since the site had already been given out to Sems Exploration, the youth should vacate the place so that the company can start its operations.

Nana Kusi Anowuo said the Fomena Police Commander at the meeting engaged the leaders of the groups operating at the mining site and committed them to sign a document that they will not go to the site again for peace to prevail in the area and Adansiman in general.
Nana Anowuo emphasised that the meeting ended peacefully. He, however, disclosed that while the Adansihene was going to Hweremoase in the evening of the same day, he was allegedly attacked by a mob, but the timely intervention of the police brought the situation under control.
The Adansi Traditional Council has referred the matter to the police. No arrests have been made.
The Fomena Police Commander, DSP Samson Wunyi Mumuni, who confirmed the incident, said the police will invite the leaders of the youth in mining in a discussion, with the view to finding a lasting solution to the impasse.
