A Philanthropist and Entrepreneur, Mr. Nicholas Asamoah Nikel, popularly known as “Sikawura”, has donated 1,000 mathematical sets to final-year pupils in the Ahafo Ano North Municipality of the Ashanti Region, who are preparing to sit for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The beneficiary schools include Tepa Saviour JHS, Tepa Presby JHS, Methodist JHS, Anyinasuso D/A, Anyinasuso Presby JHS, Anyinasuso Islamic JHS and Fountain of Life International, among others.
Presenting the items, Mr. Asamoah encouraged the candidates to put aside fear and have confidence in themselves and in what they have been taught in school. He emphasized that with hard work and belief in their abilities, they can succeed in their exams.
Recounting his own experience, Mr. Asamoah shared that during his time as a BECE candidate, access to a mathematical set was a challenge, and he and his peers often had to borrow from others, a practice that goes against examination regulations. He said he does not want today’s students to face the same obstacle.
“I’m doing this not because I have too much, but because I’ve been there before. I know how it feels to enter an exam hall unprepared due to lack of tools,” he stated in an interaction with the media.
He further disclosed his readiness to support brilliant but needy students among the candidates who successfully gain admission into senior high schools.
Receiving the items on behalf of the pupils, the headmaster of Tepa Saviour JHS, Mr. Isaac Asare Ayisi, expressed profound gratitude to Mr. Asamoah for the generous donation, stating that the mathematical sets would be put to good use.
The headmistress of Tepa Presby JHS, Madam Faustina Dwiraa Boakye, also lauded the timely gesture, noting that many of the candidates did not have the needed materials days before the examination.
“This donation has brought relief not just to the pupils and teachers, but also to the parents,” she remarked. Some of the beneficiaries also expressed heartfelt appreciation and promised to use the mathematical sets responsibly in their upcoming examinations.
