Zoomlion Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of the Jospong Group of Companies (JGC), is set to expand its environmental sanitation footprint into Zanzibar, following a high-level meeting with President Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi.
The engagement marks a pivotal step in Zoomlion’s Africa Expansion strategy, as the company seeks to partner with forward-thinking governments to address the continent’s waste management challenges through innovation and sustainable practices.

President Mwinyi expressed keen interest in Zoomlion’s success in Ghana and other African countries, citing the company’s proven track record as a vital asset in advancing Zanzibar’s environmental sustainability and tourism objectives.
“We had a very fruitful meeting with His Excellency President Mwinyi, where we discussed transformative approaches to waste management that are both practical and forward-looking,” said Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group.
He noted that the partnership aligns with Zoomlion’s mission to turn waste into an opportunity for innovation, employment, and sustainable development.
“At Zoomlion, we believe that waste is not just a challenge – it is an opportunity for innovation, employment and sustainable development,” he stressed.
“Our vision is aligned with that of Zanzibar’s leadership: to build a cleaner, greener future for generations to come.”
The discussions focused on deploying advanced waste sorting and recycling technologies, engineered landfill systems and community-based waste collection models that stimulate local economies.
Zoomlion assured the Government of Zanzibar of its commitment to providing technical expertise, investment and capacity-building to ensure the success of the initiative.
This collaboration reinforces a shared vision between Zoomlion and Zanzibar to promote long-term environmental health and economic resilience, positioning sanitation as a catalyst for sustainable development across Africa.
