Ghanaian artiste Tulenkey, has explained why he does not spend much time on social media.
He told DJ Slim on Daybreak Hitz that he has decided to limit his time on various digital media platforms because he believes it takes too much of his time and sanity.
“Imagine you are in the office and you get notification [that] some girl is distracting you. Most people have their notifications on, because WhatsApp should be when you go online, that is when you reply messages. Like email, if you open our email, you never get a notification from your email unless you turn it on,” he said.
He added that when one opens such notifications it takes about 7 or more minutes to get back to total concentration. According to the hiplife artiste, this causes a lot of distraction.
Tulenkey indicated that he has turned off all his notifications as a result of negative effect social media can have on him.
“When I wake up from bed, until 12pm my phone is on ‘do not disturb’ because that is the time I do most of my work.
One thing about social media is that it is in your face, there is a lot going on. It’s too much. If you really meditate and seclude yourself from everything and you enter social media it looks like you have entered a market place. But we are used to that rush all the time. Even when you are on the water closet, you are on your phone so your mind does not even get the time to relax,” he further noted.
Tulenkey is currently promoting a new music project that accentuates the issue of mental health among men. The song titled ‘Barima’ is available on various online music stores.
