The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) has condemned the vandalism of the Tantra Hill underpass on the Achimota-Ofankor road (N6).
A statement issued by the Authority’s Public Affairs Division denounced the development and emphasised that tampering with public infrastructure was a criminal offence under the Road Traffic Regulations, 2012, LI 2180, Section 114 subsection 4 (b).
The statement follows a video posted by BuzzStopBoys exposing damage to the retaining wall near the Underpass.
An earlier assessment by GHA Engineers found “spalling over a localised area of the retaining wall,” leaving rebars exposed and vulnerable to theft.
The Authority urged residents and commuters “to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities around public infrastructure to the nearest police station or the Public Affairs Division of the Ghana Highway Authority.
“Your safety is our priority. Let’s protect our roads together,” it added.
It assured the public that the Underpass remains “structurally sound and safe for all users,” with repairs planned to prevent further deterioration.
