Three men standing trial for allegedly trafficking nearly three tonnes of cocaine have pleaded not guilty to multiple narcotics-related offences before the High Court in Accra.
The accused — Isaac Quaicoe, Kenneth Cobbinah, and Mawuko Kudufia — face eight counts including conspiracy to possess narcotic drugs, trafficking, use of property for narcotics-related activities, and money laundering.
Presided over by Justice Ruby Aryeetey, the court granted bail to all accused persons, with Quaicoe and Kudufia each receiving bail set at GH¢50 million, two of which are to be justified with landed property.
Cobbinah, a student of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), was granted bail in the sum of GH¢2 million with two sureties.
The charges stem from events said to have occurred between March 1 and March 7, 2025. According to court documents, the three accused conspired and acted together to traffic 2,970 slabs of cocaine weighing approximately 2,974.63 kilograms.
The drugs were allegedly concealed in a Sinotruk Howo truck, registration number GT 6882-25, intercepted at Pedu-Junction, near Cape Coast.
The accused also allegedly trafficked an earlier consignment of 90 slabs of cocaine on March 1, 2025, from Takoradi to Tuba-Brigade in Kasoa.
Kudufia faces additional charges for allegedly using and attempting to use his residence near the New Resurrection Ministry at Tuba-Brigade for narcotics activities. He is also charged with laundering $37,600 and CFA 13 million suspected to be proceeds of narcotics trade.
State Attorney Derriek Acrah-Nyamike, representing the Attorney-General’s Department, presented the charges, while legal representation for the accused includes lawyers Victor Kwadjoga Adawudu and Paul Asibi Abariga. The case has been adjourned to May 5, 2025, for further proceedings.
