The Ghana Baptist Convention (GBC) Ministers’ Conference has held its 62nd Annual Refresher Course, Retreat and Business Conference at its Women’s Retreat and Resource Centre at Ejura in the Ashanti region.
This edition of the conference was under the theme: “Minister; Pressing Forward, Finishing Strong – Philippians 3:13-14”.
The Chairman of the Conference, Rev. Charles Oppong Opoku disclosed that the conference is a time for “refreshing, repurposing and recommitment” to the call of God, stressing that the “theme” could not be more timely and relevant.

According to Rev. Oppong Opoku, Ministers need to recognise their “ongoing journey” in the spread of the gospel, citing biblical Apostle Paul as a role model and urged them (Ministers) to avoid complacency in order to explore more grounds to cover for Jesus Christ.
Rev. Oppong entreated Ministers to let go of “past glories and pains”, adding that past victories can make one proud and stagnant, while past failure can also make one bitter and discouraged.
He, therefore, entreated the Ministers to press forward with a purpose, which requires “effort, intentionality, sacrifice and focus”, noting that the ultimate goal is not just to start well, but to finish strong, and thus, maintain integrity, remaining focus and keeping eyes on the prize.
Addressing the conference, Rev. Dr. Charles Owusu Ampofo, President of GBC Ministers’ Conference, emphasised that the conference was more than a routine gathering and a celebration of thanksgiving for all that the Lord Almighty has done over the past seven years, stressing that the conference is a time to “reflect in His faithfulness, provision and guidance”.
He expressed his gratitude to the Ministers as well as the former Leadership of the Conference for their support, collaboration and dedication to their shared mission, noting that their timely efforts have made these initiatives possible.

The Guest of Honour, Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi, the immediate-Past Chairman, National Peace Council, disclosed that the theme for the conference was appropriate in view of the challenges facing the world and ministry, adding that it focuses on crucial aspect of God’s ministry and personal work with God.
Rev. Dr. Adu-Gyamfi stressed that as spiritual leaders, they have been entrusted with the responsibility of guiding the flock of God, proclaiming the gospel and living a life that inspires others to pursue their spiritual journey.
Touching on the theme, Rev. Dr. Adu-Gyamfi disclosed that “finishing well” is about how one finishes and not the quality one brings to the end.
