Former Accra Great Olympics head coach Prince George Koffie has boldly declared his ambition to one day lead the Ghana national football team, insisting he has what it takes to make a remarkable impact when given the opportunity.
Renowned for his tactical sharpness and ability to inspire players, Koffie has built a well-travelled coaching résumé across Ghana and beyond. His managerial journey has seen him take charge of clubs such as Nzema Kotoko, New Edubiase United, Accra Great Olympics, Techiman Eleven Wonders, and Namibia’s African Stars FC.
One of the standout achievements of his career came with Swedru All Blacks, where he masterminded the club’s long-awaited return to the Ghana Premier League after a 16-year absence. Taking over during the early stages of the Division One League campaign, Koffie successfully navigated a fiercely competitive Zone Two, ultimately guiding the “Black Magicians” back to the top flight.
Despite that success, Koffie stepped down from his role shortly after sealing promotion, leaving many observers surprised by the timing of his departure.
Currently unattached, the experienced tactician believes he remains more than capable of handling the pressure that comes with managing the two mots glamourous clubs in Ghana (Hearts of Oak and Kotoko).
For Koffie, coaching either Hearts of Oak or Asante Kotoko would be a task well within his capabilities, while eyeing future spell with the Black Stars.
“It would be relatively easy for me to coach either Hearts of Oak or Asante Kotoko. But more importantly, my ultimate ambition is to coach the Black Stars in the future. When given the opportunity, I will do marvelous things with the team,” he told Atinka FM in an interview.
Koffie’s confidence, backed by his track record of reviving teams and achieving promotion success, positions him as one of several homegrown tacticians eager to take the next step. While the Black Stars job remains a long-term ambition, his recent accomplishments suggest he could yet play a significant role in shaping the future of Ghanaian football.
