Asante Kotoko assistant coach Hamza Obeng has apologised to the club’s supporters following their defeat to Karela United in the Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors travelled to the Aliu Mahama Stadium for their Matchday 25 fixture in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.
Karela United secured all three points thanks to a first-half strike from Malik Abubakar. Kotoko’s task became even more difficult after Henry Ansu was sent off in the 40th minute, leaving the visitors to finish the game with ten men.
Speaking after the match, Obeng expressed disappointment with the result and apologised to the fans while urging the team to quickly shift focus to the next assignment.
“We are down with the result that we had today, but it’s part of the game. We need to take it aside and concentrate on our next game," he said.
“Unfortunately for us, we were not able to put the ball in the back of the net, and we conceded that easy goal at the time we were down by one man. We are sorry for losing this game, but the league title race is not over yet,” Obeng added.
The defeat means Kotoko have now lost three of their last five league matches, with their only victory during that period coming in a 2â0 win against Young Apostles FC.
Kotoko currently sit fifth on the league table with 39 points and will next face Nations FC in their upcoming league fixture.
