Bibiani Gold Stars deputy communications and administrative manager Joseph Oti Manu has described the club's 2-1 victory over Accra Hearts of Oak as a "good weekend" that underlines their title credentials.
The defending champions secured their first-ever win over the Phobians since gaining promotion to the Ghana Premier League, a result that keeps them firmly in championship contention. Gold Stars remain second in the standings but have now closed the gap on leaders Medeama SC to just one point with ten games remaining.
Speaking to Citi Sports after the Week 24 triumph, Oti Manu savoured the moment.
"It was a good weekend for us. It was a good game. The two teams played very well, but let me congratulate Bibiani Gold Stars for the massive win."
The victory carried extra significance given Gold Stars' history of draws against Hearts on home soil.
"Playing in Bibiani against Hearts, it tends to be a drawn game, but we made everything right from the management level, and the fans were really poised."
For Oti Manu, the result sends a clear message about the defending champions' ambitions.
"It tells you how ready and how serious we are. We are left with 10 games to end the season, and we believe we are picking it game after game, and we will see what happens in the next few months."
With the title race tightening and momentum on their side, Gold Stars have signalled they have no intention of surrendering their crown quietly.
