Berekum Chelsea rescued a dramatic point at the Golden City Park, scoring deep into stoppage time to cancel out Young Apostles FC’s second-half lead in a tense Ghana Premier League encounter.
The visitors looked on course for a priceless victory after Richmond Opoku broke the deadlock seven minutes into the second half.
The forward capitalised on a moment of hesitation in Chelsea’s defence in the 52nd minute, finishing calmly to give Apostles a 1-0 advantage and silence the home crowd.
Prior to the breakthrough, the contest had been cagey, with both sides showing signs of the pressure surrounding the relegation battle.
Chelsea enjoyed more possession in the opening half but struggled to carve out clear-cut chances, while Apostles remained compact and threatening on the counter.
After falling behind, the Bibires pushed numbers forward in search of an equaliser.
Waves of pressure followed, with crosses delivered into the box and long-range efforts testing the Apostles goalkeeper.
The visitors, however, defended resolutely and looked set to claim their first away win in months.
But just as the clock ticked into added time, Benjamin Abaidoo emerged the hero. Rising inside the box during a late attacking move, he fired home the equaliser to spark wild celebrations among the home supporters.
The 1-1 draw means Chelsea extend their unbeaten run, while Apostles are left to rue another late setback in their fight for survival.
