Asante Kotoko legend Samuel Opoku Nti has urged the club fans not to train insults on players following defeat against sworn-rivals, Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League.
The match, held at the Baba Yara Stadium ended 1-0 in favour of Hearts of Oak on Sunday, bringing an end to their long-term winless run against the Porcupine Warriors.
Defender Baba Adamu emerged as the hero of the match after scoring the only goal to snatch maximum points for the Phobians.
Despite the defeat, the former Chief Executive Officer of the club has cautioned the fans not rain insult on players, while advocating for unity as the team strive to turn things around.
“I will plead with the fans not to fight the players after Hearts of Oak defeat. Raining insults on players won’t change anything. It will be prudent to come together as a team in order to over the challenges” he told Kessben FM in an interview.
Kotoko will travel to face Young Apostles in matchday 23 of the domestic top-flight, with victory crucial to reviving their title ambitions.
Currently, Asante Kotoko find themselves in the fifth position on the Ghana Premier League standings with 35 points, nine points behind log leaders, Medeama.
