Abidjan was transformed into a hub of football celebration as the original FIFA World Cup Trophy made a spectacular and highly anticipated arrival in Côte d'Ivoire, captivating the nation and marking a significant stop on the global Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola.
The legendary trophy was given an official state welcome led by Prime Minister Beugré Mambé at Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport. The arrival drew thousands of enthusiastic fans, athletes, and community members, all eager to celebrate the country's deep passion for football and catch a rare glimpse of the sport's most iconic prize.
"Hosting the Original FIFA World Cup Trophy is a proud moment for our nation," Prime Minister Beugré Mambé stated at the ceremony. "Football has the power to inspire hope, joy, and togetherness, values that resonate deeply with our people. We thank Coca-Cola and FIFA for bringing this extraordinary experience to our shores."
The tour stop featured a vibrant series of public events, including fan exhibitions where supporters could photograph the trophy, interactive football challenges, and a high-energy concert showcasing Ivorian musical talent.
The event forms part of the sixth global edition of the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola, which commemorates 20 years of bringing the trophy closer to fans worldwide.
The 18-carat solid gold trophy, weighing 6.175 kilograms and in use since 1974, now continues its journey to Morocco before travelling to Algeria. It will ultimately head to North America as part of the global build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
