Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has publicly insisted that "nothing has been agreed" with Manchester City for the transfer of forward Antoine Semenyo, directly addressing the widespread reports of an imminent deal for the Ghana international.
Speaking ahead of Bournemouth's Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur, Iraola acknowledged the intense speculation while stressing that no formal agreement is in place. "I think it could be the last game [for Semenyo].
That is my personal opinion, but there is nothing agreed and nothing signed," the Spanish coach stated. "It is my personal opinion, as I understand the market and the noise, but there is nothing agreed right now."
Despite his personal prediction, Iraola reaffirmed Semenyo's current status with the south-coast club. "He right now is our player, and I hope it continues," he told Bournemouth media.
Semenyo has been in exceptional form this season, registering nine goals and three assists in 19 league appearances, which has attracted strong interest.
Reports indicate that Manchester City are prepared to activate a release clause in his contract, but Iraola's comments suggest that final negotiations are still pending. The forward's potential move will be one of the most significant transfers in the January window if completed.
