Senegal winger Krépin Diatta has added his voice to growing praise for Morocco’s hosting of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, highlighting the quality of stadiums and playing surfaces as a defining feature of the tournament.
Speaking ahead of Senegal’s knockout-stage assignment against Sudan on Saturday, the Teranga Lions attacker described the conditions as ideal for high-level football, underlining their impact on performance and style of play.
Diatta’s comments come as Morocco continues to draw commendation from players, coaches, and officials for the organisation of the expanded continental showpiece.
“The pitch is really excellent, and I don’t think we can complain. Honestly, the infrastructure here in Morocco is amazing,” Diatta told reporters, reflecting on the surfaces used during Senegal’s group-stage matches.
The AS Monaco player stressed that pitch quality is especially crucial for teams that prioritise possession and structured build-up play, a hallmark of Senegal’s tactical identity under their current setup.
“We are a team that likes to play, impose our style, and keep possession, and we need pitches like this,” he said. “From that point of view, we don’t face any difficulties and we succeed in applying the style we want to play.”
Morocco’s preparations for AFCON 2025 have been years in the making, driven by sustained investment in sports infrastructure as part of a wider strategy to position the country as a global football hub.
Several of the venues in use were upgraded or newly constructed to international standards, with an emphasis on pitch technology, fan experience, and broadcast readiness.
Diatta concluded his remarks by reiterating his admiration for the overall standard on display, stating: “Honestly, the quality here is very high.”
