Bayer Leverkusen will have to do without in-form Dutch-Ghanaian winger Ernest Poku for the upcoming Bundesliga game against RB Leipzig.
Head coach Kasper Hjulmand confirmed on Friday that the 21-year-old will not make the squad due to a thigh issue.â
The club is relaxed about the situation, as the problem is not considered serious. ““Poku is not ready, but we believe he will be fit again for the start in January,” the coach explained at the press conference. This gives Leverkusen hope that he will be available again right after the winter break.â
Poku has quickly become a fan favourite in Leverkusen thanks to his direct style, work rate and eye for goal.
The summer signing has settled very well into the Bundesliga, showing why the club moved for him. In 13 league appearances, he has scored four goals and provided two assists, underlining his impact in the final third.
