German-Ghanaian winger Ansgar Knauff has grown into a key and above all very versatile option in Eintracht Frankfurt’s attack.
The 23-year-old is no longer tied to one role and is increasingly standing out through his flexibility and growing goal threat.â
Head coach Dino Toppmoller praised these qualities before the final Bundesliga match before the winter break against Hamburger SV.
“Ansgar is anyway a player who is used to being deployed in several positions. Left wing, right wing, wing back on the right or left, as a number ten and in the half spaces. He has played all positions in the attacking area,” said the Eintracht coach. This variability makes Knauff particularly valuable, as he “can play several positions because of his profile”.â
Toppmoller also sees clear progress in Knauff’s end product. The winger has “improved enormously when it comes to finishing” and is on track to reach double figures in competitive goals for the first time this season. The coach has already told him “that I trust him to do it and that he will manage it”. At the moment, the right footer is on five goals in all competitions.
