Former Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Sanni Mohammed has shared his view on Benjamin Asare’s recent dip in form.
According to him, the shot-stopper of the Phobians has been conceding goals in recent matches due to fatigue from the many matches he has played for both club and country in the past few months.
Asare’s performance has come under scrutiny in the last couple of weeks after conceding three goals in the last two matches in the Ghana Premier League.
Before that, he had kept five clean sheets in the division, making him one of the best in his position in the league.
Amid criticism from supporters who believe the goalkeeper must step up, Sanni Mohammed has jumped to his defense.
“Benjamin has played a lot for both club and country since last season, and fatigue seems to have set in; that’s why he’s been conceding lately. It’s not overconfidence; just tiredness, and he’ll bounce back soon,” the former Hearts of Oak goalkeeper said in an interview with Akoma FM.
Benjamin Asare remains the safest pair of hands for Hearts of Oak and is expected to be in post for the side on Sunday, November 9, when they take on bitter rivals Asante Kotoko in the first Super Clash of the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign.
