The 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup group stage will feature an exciting Egyptian Derby as Zamalek and Al Masry were drawn together in Group D, following Monday’s draw in Johannesburg.
Zamalek, who lifted the trophy in the 2023/24 season, will also face South African giants Kaizer Chiefs and Zambia’s ZESCO United in what promises to be a highly competitive group.
Algeria’s USM Alger are the top seeds in Group A and will take on Mali’s Djoliba AC, Morocco’s Olympique Club de Safi, and Cote d’Ivoire’s FC San Pedro.
Group B is headed by Morocco’s three-time CAF Champions League winners Wydad Casablanca, who will face DR Congo’s AS Maniema, Tanzania’s Azam FC, and Kenyan debutants Nairobi United.
Group C features Algeria’s CR Belouizdad, last year’s semi-finalists Stellenbosch FC, Congo’s AS Otoho, and Tanzania’s Singida Black Stars.
The group stage will kick off on 21-23 November 2025, with two matchdays played ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, resuming on 23-25 January 2026.
RS Berkane, the defending champions, claimed their third CAF Confederation Cup title last season, equalling Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien on the all-time winners list. Zamalek and USM Alger are the only other former champions in this year’s competition.
Winners will receive $2 million, while runners-up take home $1 million. Teams advancing from the group stage are guaranteed at least USD 550,000.
