Swedru All Blacks will aim to return to winning ways when they host Heart of Lions on Sunday in a Ghana Premier League encounter at the Swedru Sports Stadium.
Both sides have endured inconsistent spells in recent weeks, particularly All Blacks, who are desperate to secure only their third victory of the campaign. The newly promoted side have lost four of their last five matches, piling pressure on Egyptian coach Ahmed Ibrahim Fathi, who remains optimistic that his team can turn things around.
Heart of Lions, on the other hand, ended a three-game winless run with an emphatic 3-0 home victory over Basake Holy Stars last weekend. However, head coach Bashir Hayford has attributed their recent dip in form to complacency, suggesting some players “got swollen-headed” after a bright start to the season.
Lions began the campaign strongly and briefly topped the table after four matches. They currently sit third, two points off the top, and will be eager to sustain their title ambitions with another positive result.
For All Blacks, this season marks their first in the top flight in over a decade, and their performances have shown a lack of experience and consistency. They have won two of their seven matches, losing five, with seven goals scored and eight conceded.
Heart of Lions, meanwhile, have been more solid, winning four, drawing two, and losing just one of their seven games. They have scored 10 goals and conceded only four.
Heading into Sunday’s fixture, All Blacks occupy 13th place with six points, while Lions sit third with fourteen points from seven matches.
