Ghanaian international Terry Yegbe has reflected on his maiden Black Stars call-up, describing it as a proud moment of his football career.
Yegbe earned his first call-up to the Black Stars for the final two matches of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers in November 2024, while in the books of IF Elfsborg.
The 24-year-old made a late entry into the squad after coach Otto Addo named his team for the upcoming fixtures against Angola and Niger.
After several months, Yegbe, who currently plies his trade for French Ligue 1 side FC Metz, has finally broken his silence regarding his Ghana call-up, saying it was a proud moment for him.
“It came so suddenly,” he recalls. “My agent called me around 4 or 5 a.m. saying, âpack your things, Otto Addo just called and said you’re going to the national team.’ I was half asleep, but it was such a proud moment for me, for my family, and for my community in Akatsi.” He told Flashscore in an interview.
Yegbe’s outstanding display in Sweden earned him a significant move to FC Metz in France during the summer window. He signed a four-year deal that will keep him at the club until summer 2029.
The 24-year-old centre-back has become a mainstay at FC Metz since his arrival, making eight appearances in the French Ligue 1 this season.
