Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have been handed a major squad boost ahead of their return to action in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League following their exit from the CAF Confederation Cup.
In an official club statement on Tuesday, it said key players, Baba Yahaya and Saaka Dauda, have returned to full training ahead of their Week 8 league encounter against Karela United.
“The club's medical team confirmed the duo’s return after both were sidelined with injuries â Baba nursing a groin problem picked up during preseason, and Saaka recovering from an ankle issue. Baba, who is yet to feature this season, is expected to be in contention for his first appearance as the Porcupine Warriors seek a strong response following their CAF Confederation Cup exit,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko have also indicated that striker Kwame Poku is close to returning to action.
The highly-rated forward picked up an injury in the opening league fixture against Berekum Chelsea.
Having been sidelined for several weeks, he is now training with the youth team and could be ready for first-team action after a week.
