Injured striker Kwame Poku is close to returning to action for Asante Kotoko after spending over four weeks on the sidelines with injury.
The highly-rated attacker suffered an injury during Asante Kotoko’s opening fixture of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League clash against Berekum Chelsea on September 13.
Due to the injury, Poku has not featured for the Porcupine Warriors in the last seven matches in all competitions.
In an update from Asante Kotoko on Tuesday, the club said the striker has started training with the youth team, giving hope of his return to action with the senior team very soon.
“..forward Kwame Opoku, who was stretchered off during the opening-day win over Berekum Chelsea, has resumed training with the youth side, while striker Isaac Mintah is still on the treatment table after undergoing successful surgery three weeks ago,” a statement from the club said.
Meanwhile, the Reds have been handed a major squad boost ahead of their Ghana Premier League Week 8 encounter against Karela United.
Key players Baba Yahaya and Saaka Dauda have returned to full training after recovering from injury and should feature in the upcoming league match.
