Everton have entered formal discussions with French club OGC Nice over the potential signing of Ghanaian centre-back Kojo Peprah Oppong, Africa Foot has reported.
He has just made his debut for Ghana during the October international break, coming off the bench against Comoros in Ghana's final 2026 World Cup qualifier in Accra.
The Premier League side are eager to reinforce their defensive line ahead of next season and have identified the 21-year-old as a top priority.
Club representatives reportedly travelled to France last weekend, holding initial talks with Nice officials regarding a possible transfer.
According to the report, Everton have submitted an â¬8 million offer for Oppong.
Nice are prepared to sell but want the Ghana international to remain until the end of the Ligue 1 campaign â a request Everton are said to be willing to honour.
Oppong joined Nice last July from Swedish side IFK Norrköping for a fee of around â¬1 million.
Since his arrival, he has become one of the club’s most dependable defenders, registering close to 1,000 minutes across 12 appearances this season.
His progress has not gone unnoticed, with scouts praising his positioning, composure, and pace.
The Kumasi-born defender first moved to Europe in 2023 when he signed for Norrköping.
His strong debut season in Sweden convinced Nice to invest in him, and his performances in France have now placed him firmly on Everton’s radar.
Reports add that personal terms have already been discussed between the player’s camp and Everton.
The proposed deal would see Oppong sign a five-year contract worth approximately â¬2.5 million per year.
Everton manager David Moyes is believed to be pushing for a deal as he looks to build a younger, more dynamic defensive unit.
Oppong’s potential move could add depth and competition to the backline, which has been inconsistent this season.
