Liverpool could have a significant advantage in the race to sign Bournemouth’s in-form winger Antoine Semenyo, thanks to their sporting director Richard Hughes’ prior connection with the player.
According to Football Insider, the Reds are among several Premier League clubs monitoring the Ghanaian international, who has made a blistering start to the 2025/26 season with six goals and three assists in his first eight league games. Manchester City and Arsenal are also reportedly interested, but Liverpool may hold the upper hand.
Hughes, who joined Liverpool from Bournemouth earlier this year, was involved in Semenyo’s transfer dealings during his time with the Cherries and is believed to know the details of a release clause included in the winger’s contract. While Bournemouth are keeping the clause figure confidential, it could allow Liverpool to act swiftly if they decide to trigger it.
With Mohamed Salah approaching the latter stages of his Anfield career and limited depth behind Cody Gakpo, Semenyo fits Liverpool’s long-term vision. His explosive pace, versatility, and Premier League experience make him an attractive target, and the Reds may move decisively next summer.
