Asante Kotoko’s communications officer, Sarfo Duku, has urged supporters to turn up in numbers as the team prepares for a crucial CAF Champions League tie against Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club.
“What we will be happy about is Kotoko will get a very good result so that the second leg coming on next week Friday will not be so difficult for us. So that Kotoko will be able to enter the money zone that is were the big boys in the African zone are when we talk about the big boys if Kotoko deserves to be there then all the fans should come and support us. So that on Sunday we beat WAC very well to reach the group stage and remind people Kotoko is still among the big boys in African club football," he told Peace FM as monitored by Ghanasoccernet.com
Kotoko will face Wydad on Sunday, October 19, at the Accra Sports Stadium after CAF declined to approve the Baba Yara Stadium. Tickets are selling at GHS 50 for the Popular Stand and Centre Line, and GHS 200 for the VIP section.
The Porcupine Warriors, unbeaten this season, reached this stage after a 5-3 aggregate win over Nigeria’s Kwara United. However, Wydad’s experience at the FIFA Club World Cup promises a tough encounter.
