Sports Minister Kofi Adams has praised President John Mahama for his role in securing financial support for the 18 Ghana Premier League clubs.
Each Premier League has been rewarded GHS1 million following a partnership deal that was announced between the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Adesa Production Limited (APL) before the start of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
Adams revealed that the package was made possible by Mahama’s direct intervention at the cabinet level, mobilising both public and private funding.
“Your Excellency, that vision, met with dedication and investment, is yielding results,” Adams said during a visit of GoldStars and Kotoko at the Jubilee House.
“Today, the clubs have started the premiership with each premier club receiving a million Ghana cedis to start with.”
In addition to the support, Mahama also announced $100,000 financial package to Asante Kotoko and Bibiani GoldStars to boost their participation in this season’s CAF inter-club competitions, with each club receiving $50,000.
Meanwhile, Bibiani GoldStars started their campaign with a 2-0 loss to JS Kabylie in the first leg of the preliminary round in the CAF Champions League.
Asante Kotoko recorded a pulsating 4-3 win against Kwara United in the first leg of the Confederation Cup.
