JS Kabylie head coach Josef Zinnebauer has commended the condition of the Accra Sports Stadium pitch ahead of his team's CAF Champions League preliminary round clash against Bibiani Gold Stars on Saturday.
The Algerian side will face Ghana's Premier League champions at the venue, which is serving as Gold Stars' temporary home ground after their regular stadium in Bibiani failed to meet CAF standards.
"Even if it's bad, we cannot change it but the condition [of the pitch] is good," Zinnebauer stated. "It's not [the same] compared to our stadium or our training ground but I think it is difficult in the whole Africa."
The experienced coach emphasised that his team would not use the pitch conditions as an excuse, adding: "No excuses, we have all that we want. We have the same field, the same stadium as the opponent. We have to play the game."
The first leg encounter kicks off at 15:00 GMT on Saturday, with the return leg scheduled for September 26 in Algeria. The winner of the two-legged tie will advance to the next round of Africa's premier club competition.
Gold Stars are making their debut appearance in the CAF Champions League after winning their first-ever Ghana Premier League title last season.
