Former GHALCA Chairman Kudjoe Fianoo has thrown his weight behind Hearts of Oak board member Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe in his campaign to challenge the extension of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidency to three terms.
Fianoo says he fully supports Nyaho-Tamakloe’s stand against the amendment, which was passed overwhelmingly at the GFA Congress last month.
Fianoo, a board member of Great Olympics, was among several stakeholders who opposed the move to extend the GFA presidency.
He is now calling on the association to clarify whether the new statute will apply to current president Kurt Okraku, whose tenure expires in 2027.
“Even the GFA, at one point in time, denied that there was something like that on paper. When we get to that bridge, we’ll cross it,” he told Joy Sports.
Nyaho-Tamakloe has vowed to resist the amendment 'till his last days on earth,' and Fianoo says the veteran administrator can rely on him for support.
“Tell him to count on me that I’ll support him whether rain or shine,” Fianoo declared.
Okraku has yet to state whether he will seek a third term under the new rules. He has previously said he will decide at the appropriate time.
