The 2025/26 Ghana Premier League will see just two foreign coaches in charge, with the majority of clubs opting for local managers.
Out of the 18 head coaches confirmed for the upcoming campaign, only Swedru All Blacks and Aduana FC have appointed foreign tacticians. Egyptian trainer Ahmed Ibrahim Fathi will lead Swedru All Blacks, while Romanian Cioba Aristica continues with Aduana FC.
The remaining 16 clubs will be managed by Ghanaian coaches, underlining the strong presence of local technical expertise in the league. Among them are experienced names such as Frimpong Manso (Bibiani Gold Stars), Bashir Hayford (Heart of Lions), Samuel Boadu (Berekum Chelsea), and Abdul Karim Zito (Asante Kotoko).
Some clubs have turned to new leadership, including Mas-Ud Didi Dramani at Hearts of Oak, Winfred Dormon at Dreams FC, and Augustine Evans Adotey at Basake Holy Stars. Others have maintained continuity, with Tanko Ibrahim (Medeama SC), Christopher Ennin (Samartex), and Nurudeen Amadu (Karela United) all staying in their roles.
Notably, no foreign coach has won the Ghana Premier League in over a decade. The last to achieve the feat was Dutchman Hans van der Pluijm, who guided Berekum Chelsea to the 2011 title.
The 2025/26 season kicks off this Friday, with heightened anticipation around how both the foreign and local coaches will shape their teams’ campaigns.
