The Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has confirmed that there will be no ticket sales at the gate for the Black Stars’ upcoming World Cup qualifier against Mali.
The senior national team is set to host The Eagles on Monday, September 8, in Matchday 8 of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Kick-off is scheduled for 19:00 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The decision comes in response to crowd control and seating challenges observed during Ghana’s last home fixture in March.
To prevent a repeat of the rush that occurred during the Black Stars’ game against Chadâwhere many fans showed up hoping to purchase tickets on matchdayâNSA has opted to eliminate gate sales entirely.
“We intend not to have a rush as we did in the Ghana versus Chad game, where a lot of fans came to the gates without tickets, intending to buy tickets on the day," he told the press.
“There will be no ticket sold on Matchday [at the stadium], so if you do not have a ticket, don’t come to the stadium on Matchday; you will not get a ticket to buy on the day of the match," he added.
A victory against Mali is crucial for Ghana as the Black Stars aim to bolster their chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted across the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
