The Black Stars began preparations for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers with 12 players taking part in their first training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday evening.
Ghana face Chad on Thursday before hosting Mali in Accra four days later.
The initial group included 10 outfield players and two goalkeepers. Captain Jordan Ayew, Antoine Semenyo, Elisha Owusu, and Gideon Mensah were the most experienced in camp, joined by Benjamin Asare, Joseph Anang, Jerry Afriyie, Christopher Bonsu Baah, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Jonas Adjetey, Ibrahim Sulemana, and Ibrahim Osman.
The light session opened with individual stretches before the physical trainer led group routines. Players were later divided into two teams for passing drills.
Mensah, however, sat out the session in the dugout, sparking concerns over his fitness.
GFA President Kurt Okraku, Black Stars management committee chairman Dr. Randy Abbey, and his deputy Stephen Appiah were among the dignitaries who observed proceedings.
Twelve more players are expected to join camp before Tuesday’s second training session in Accra. The squad will then travel to Chad for their first assignment of the window.
Ghana currently lead Group I with 15 points and are targeting back-to-back wins to strengthen their qualification campaign.
