Bibiani GoldStars head coach Frimpong Manso says his side’s narrow defeat to Asante Kotoko in the Super Cup is evidence that every fixture in the coming season will be demanding.
The Miners were edged 1-0 at Dun’s Park on Sunday in the Champion of Champions clash, with Kotoko’s new signing Musah Hamzata striking from a set piece in the 70th minute to settle the contest.
The result, which served as the season’s curtain-raiser, left the GoldStars boss reflecting on the physical and tactical challenges his team must address.
“I think now every game that we play or we want to play is going to be like this. Very difficult. Because now at this time of the season, every team is very strong,” Manso remarked after the match.
He admitted his greatest concern was the midfield, where Kotoko repeatedly unsettled his side. “The first half was very physical. Both sides were not putting the ball on the turf. It was one end to the other.
“For me, it wasn’t all that good football. But at least the second half, in terms of possession, I think it improved to some extent. So it means we need to look at that place well. At the highest level, you cannot be losing possessions like that, especially in the midfield.”
Kotoko’s win avenged their earlier loss to the reigning champions in the GHALCA Top 4.
