The President of the Ga Traditional Council, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has promised to purchase 1,000 tickets to ensure fans turn out in their numbers for the 2025 Democracy Cup clash between Hearts of Oak and Great Olympics.
The highly anticipated fixture is scheduled for Friday, September 5, at the University of Ghana Stadium.
The Ga Mantse made the commitment when organisers of the competition visited him at his palace in Accra on Friday, August 29, 2025.
He emphasised the importance of using football to highlight Ghana’s democratic progress and to foster unity among citizens from diverse backgrounds.
“We should not take our democracy for granted, and I believe it is a great initiative from the Members of Parliament and the Speaker of Parliament that you lead and seek to bring all people in Ghana together,” King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II said.
He further underscored the value of peace, noting that while many countries have suffered unrest following elections, Ghana has remained stable and earned international respect.
“Today, I’m ready to support this game with 1,000 tickets,” he added.
Launched by Parliament last year, the Democracy Cup seeks to celebrate Ghana’s democratic achievements and promote peace through sport.
Asante Kotoko won the maiden edition after defeating Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium.
