Inaki Williams is stepping into the Champions League with excitement and belief that Athletic Bilbao has something unique to offer.
The Ghanaian striker says the squad is “excited” about the competition and ready to carry forward their well-known motto of working quietly while aiming high.
“It's not going to be an easy group. We're going to have some very nice home games; practically the best teams in Europe are going to be at San Mames. And then there are some very nice away games in which we'll try to compete on equal terms, and like in recent years, 'on the down low,' and see how far we can go,” Williams said.
The striker underlined that one of the biggest motivations is sharing Athletic’s culture with the world. “There's no better showcase than playing in the Champions League to show what Athletic is all about,” he explained.
Athletic is set to welcome PSG, Arsenal, Sporting, and Qarabag to San Mames, while also traveling to Dortmund, Atalanta, Sparta Prague, and Newcastle. Williams admits he cannot wait to hear the anthem ring out.
