The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has thrown its weight behind the University for Development Studies (UDS) as the reigning African Universities Soccer champions gear up to represent Ghana at the World Universities Soccer Championship in China this September.
UDS earned the historic qualification earlier this year after clinching the Africa Universities Soccer Championship in Nigeria, making them the first Ghanaian side to secure the honour. Following their success, the University appealed to the GFA for assistance to boost their preparations for the global stage.
Responding to the call, the Association on Thursday presented sets of training kits to UDS. The donation was received by Michael Ansa, Head of the UDS Accra Office, while the Chief Finance Officer of the GFA made the presentation on behalf of President Kurt Okraku and the Executive Council.
In addition, the GFA has pledged to grant UDS access to the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, enabling the team to fine-tune their preparations ahead of departure.
The Association reiterated its commitment to supporting academic institutions excelling in football, stressing that UDS’ continental triumph reflects the depth of talent and promise within Ghana’s tertiary education sector.
