Hearts of Oak head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani says the significance of the name behind the Democracy Cup makes the tournament a unifying event for Ghanaians.
The Phobians will face city rivals Great Olympics at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 5, 2025, in the second edition of the competition.
The experienced coach believes the event, instituted by the Speaker of Parliament, underscores football’s role in strengthening national cohesion.
He also highlighted the accessibility of the venue and stressed the value of the symbolism attached to the trophy.
“The vicinity is also close, it gives you the right place to be. I think that there wouldn’t have been any other aspect that we would support in terms of unifying the entire country, but the name put behind this trophy is so, so significant,” Dramani said.
Hearts of Oak are determined to add the Democracy Cup after losing the maiden edition to Asante Kotoko.
