Former Asante Kotoko forward Charles Taylor has urged the club to step up their preparations as they gear up for next month’s CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
The Porcupine Warriors have been drawn against Nigerian side Kwara United in the first preliminary round, with the first leg scheduled for Kumasi between September 19 and 21, before the return fixture in Ilorin from September 26 to 28.
Taylor, however, has voiced concerns about the team’s readiness, citing their uninspiring performance in the recently concluded 2025 GHALCA Top 4 tournament, where they failed to secure a single victory.
“I don’t see any seriousness in Asante Kotoko’s preparation towards the CAF Confederation Cup,” Taylor told Asempa FM.
Should the Ghanaian giants advance past Kwara United, they will face a formidable test against Moroccan powerhouse Wydad Casablanca in the next stage.
Before focusing on their continental assignment, Kotoko will turn their attention to domestic matters when they meet Bibiani GoldStars in the Champion of Champions clash on Sunday, August 31, at DUNs Park.
