Ghana Football Association’s Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, has assured fans that Thomas Partey’s return to the Black Stars squad was carefully considered.
Amid concerns about Partey’s legal case overlapping with Ghana’s fixtures, Twum revealed that coach Otto Addo had spoken with the midfielder before extending an invitation.
He emphasized that Partey’s next court date, originally scheduled for September 2, has been postponed, clearing the way for him to join the national team.
"Yes I spoke to the coach and he said he has spoken to the player first of all our support we have given him during this period is a good one. We have been with him through thick and thin just that somethings when you are doing it you don't do it in public," he told Peace FM.
"So the coach has spoken to him he says he is ready yesterday when I spoke to the coach he told me that his next appearance that is 2nd September it has been postponed. So he can come and join the team to play on time this all some of the things we considered before the call up was done. We have confidence and trust that Thomas will come and join the team,"
Ghana leads Group I in the African Qualifiers with 15 points from six games. The Black Stars face Chad on September 4 and Mali on September 8.
