
German-born defender Derrick Kohn has agreed to represent Ghana at senior level following his maiden invite to the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers next month.
The Union Berlin left-back has been named in coach Otto Addo's 24-man squad for the matches against Chad and Mali in September.
Kohn has been a longtime target of the Ghanaian federation but efforts to get him play for the Black Stars has always been met with challenges.
However, the 26-year-old finally got the clearance to play for Ghana and he is already beaming to wear the jersey of the West African nation.
Following the announcement of the squad, Kohn took to his Instagram story to share the list, indicating his readiness to play for Ghana.
The former Bayern Munich youth star is expected to arrive in Accra on Monday as the gaffer opens camp for preparations for the two crucial matches.
The four-time Africa champions will travel to N'djamena to face Chad on September 4 before returning to Ghana to face Mali on September 8.
Ghana could be one of the first teams from Africa to clinch a place at the tournament in North America with victory in the next set of games.
Meanwhile, Kohn, who joined Union Berlin in the summer transfer window made his debut for the club in the Bundesliga last Sunday as they defeated VfB Stuttgart.
Kohn represented Germany at youth level playing for the U19's in 2017.
