CF Montréal claimed a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Austin FC at Stade Saputo, with German-Ghanaian striker Prince Osei Owusu playing a key role in the win.
The night began brightly for the hosts when Hennadii Synchuk fired home in the ninth minute. Austin responded through Myrto Uzuni’s header before Dante Sealy restored Montréal’s lead on the stroke of halftime, sending the home crowd into cheers.
Owusu, who started and lasted 81 minutes, gave the supporters another reason to celebrate in the second half. Calm under pressure, he slotted in a penalty in the 67th minute, putting Montréal 3-1 ahead. His composure and movement delighted the fans, who applauded his efforts when he was later substituted.
Austin refused to give up, with Owen Wolff narrowing the gap in the 77th minute, but Montréal held firm through a tense finish.
The victory was significant, as Montréal had never beaten Austin in previous meetings. With the win, the team heads into their next MLS clash against Toronto FC with renewed confidence.
