Referees selected from the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Catch Them Young programme have commenced preparations for the upcoming FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS) U-15 Boys Championship at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
Ten referees and ten assistant referees, drawn from all ten football regions of Ghana, are currently undergoing intensive training to sharpen both their technical and physical readiness ahead of the competition.
The camp is being supervised by two GFA Regional Technical Instructors and a fitness instructor, who are putting the group through drills in running, coordination, and endurance. In addition to physical work, the referees are engaged in theoretical and practical sessions on the Laws of the Game, with a focus on improving decision-making and aligning with modern refereeing standards.
Launched to identify and nurture young refereeing talent, the Catch Them Young project has grown into a key platform for developing Ghana’s next generation of match officials, in line with CAF and FIFA’s referee development agenda.
Officials at Prampram believe the current training camp will not only prepare the referees for the FIFA TDS Championship but also lay the foundation for their progression into national and international officiating roles.
The FIFA TDS U-15 Boys Championship will showcase the country’s best young footballers, with the Catch Them Young referees expected to ensure high-quality officiating throughout the tournament.
