Former Asante Kotoko attacker Charles Taylor has raised concerns about the seriousness of the team ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
His comment stem from the Porcupine Warriors underwhelming performance at the just ended GHALCA Top 4 tournament. Kotoko finished bottom after succumbing to defeats in all their games.
As the team gear up for the Africa campaign, Taylor has questioned the prepared of the team, while urging them to improve on all aspect before the commencement of the competition next month.
“Asante Kotoko must improve their game before the Africa campaign. As a lifelong Kotoko fan and former player, I will urge the team to step up if they are to make impact in the competition”
“I don’t see any seriousness in the team considering their output at the just ended GHALCA Top 4. I saw a lot of blunders, the players were just playing for playing sake. A lot of things must change before the competition start” he said.
The Porcupine Warriors returns to Africa for the first time since 2022 following their success in the Ghana FA Cup competition last season.
Kotoko will play host to Kwara United in the first leg between September 19 and 21 before traveling for the return fixture in Nigeria from September 26 to 28.
The Ghanaian giants are aiming to make a meaningful impact as they mark their return to the continental stage.
Kotoko will face Moroccan powerhouse Wydad Casablanca in the second preliminary round if they are able to triumph over Kwara United.
The second preliminary round’s first leg is slated for October 17 and 19, with the decisive return fixture to be played between October 24 and 26.
